It's different types are variously known as gram or Bengal gram, garbanzo or garbanzo bean, and Egyptian pea. Chickpea seeds are high in protein. It is one of the earliest cultivated legumes and 7500-year-old remains have been found in the Middle East.
Chickpea is a key ingredient in hummus, chana masala, and can be ground into flour and made into falafel. It is also used in salads, soups and stews. Also can be used to make namkeens (tea time snacks). The chickpea is important in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine and in 2016, India produced 64% of the world's total chickpeas.
Crispy Roasted Chickpeas is a delicious vegan, gluten free snack, an easy to make snack (or time time snack), that is packed with the goodness of protein and fibre. Also you need few ingredients to make them. You can use either canned chickpeas to make them or you can boil the chickpeas to make this snack.
These oven baked chickpeas are both, a tasty and a healthy snack and can be stored for a week in an air tight container. You just need to toss them with some olive oil and some spices, then roast them in the oven until they gets crunchy. They’ll stay crispy for a few days if stored in a resealable bag at room temperature.
I love these crispy roasted chickpeas and I can't resist myself to make and have such delicious snacks. You can also use these as a yummy salad topping.
I got this recipe from my mother. When we were kids she used to make these yummy snacks at home and we all loved them and normally have the with chai (an Indian tea).
Now a days I make them and then store them in an air tight container and can have them for a week or so.
